Radon in Illinois


Many Illinois properties are at risk for elevated levels of Radon.  Most counties in the state exhibit either moderate or high potential for high radon screening results.  However, each property is unique, and radon levels can change over time, so it's important to have your property tested, and periodically retested, to ensure that radon levels are within a safe range.

The below map illustrates average radon test levels across the state.



 Zone 1 counties have a predicted average indoor radon screening level greater than 4 pCi/L (picocuries per liter) (red zones)Highest Potential
